Wetlands to the Rescue

Secondary

Description

In this slide presentation, students learn the causes and consequences of climate change in Canada, examples of behaviour-based and nature-based solutions and the important role wetlands play in mitigating climate change.  Special attention is given to empowering and encouraging students to take action in their communities and beyond.

Colourful images and graphics present up-to-date information often in a quiz format.  Detailed notes accompany each slide  and links to related activities are included.

General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

This resource, with its emphasis on Canada will be of particular interest to those who are responsible for Environmental Science and Geography courses that include units of study on wetland ecosystems, climate change and conservation.  The slide show will certainly add to any school/classroom discussions around World Wetlands Day.
