In this short video, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) are introduced to students. They are presented as the new framework for sustainable development and explain that human prosperity must go hand in hand with protecting the planet. The history and origins of the goals are described as well as the progress that has been made thus far. The four key principles of the goals are also defined: Universality, Sustainability, Leave No One Behind and Participation.
The Sustainable Development Goals - Action toward 2030 video would be best used as an introduction to the SDGs for middle school aged students. After viewing the video the students could explore the United Nations website in order to dig deeper into each of the goals.
