Building A Wind Farm

Description

This activity is based on a hypothetical scenario in which a wind energy company proposes to build a wind farm for a small city and conducts a survey to determine the level of support for their project. Using criteria provided by the resource students must evaluate the validity of the survey instrument used and decide if the city council should have confidence in its results.

The survey analysis provides an opportunity to draw attention to the issues of energy generation and climate change while addressing 'data' outcomes in the mathematics classroom.
