Did you know the average American produces 4.3 pounds of trash per day? In this eye-opening short video, Laura Ling will show us how one New York woman is making an effort to change the way we think about waste. Over the past two years, Lauren Singer has produced only enough trash to fill a 16 oz mason jar. During this video, students will learn ways to be more environmentally friendly and reduce waste by changing only a few simple steps in their everyday life.

This video could be served to introduce students to the concepts of zero waste and curriculum units dealing with waste management, sustainable consumption, corporate responsibility, and government regulations.
