Walking Curriculum Indigenous Connections is a companion resource to the Walking Curriculum developed by Gillian Judson. The purpose of this resource is to bring indigenous perspectives to the learning activities. The author makes explicit indigenous connections from culture, knowledge and traditions in order to underscore the importance of understanding Place.
For each of the 29 walks that are in the document, there are guiding questions for the students to consider in addition to the indigenous connections. The resource also makes connections to the 10 Characteristics of Aboriginal World Views and Perspectives as well as the First Peoples Principles of Learning for each of the walks.
This resource is best used by those interested to incorporating indigenous learning into their students' outdoor experiences. It is best suited for the elementary and middle school classrooms to help attain curriculum outcomes related to Science, Indigenous Studies and Physical Education.
