Sila and the Land

Elementary, Middle

Description

Sila and the Land is a story of a young Inuk girl who, encouraged by her grandmother to understand her culture's relationship to the land, embarks on an adventure to find the answer.  She encounters a number of plants, animals and elements that help her to understand the importance of conservation and protecting the land for the future. The book stresses the importance of indigenous relationships to the land while also discussing climate change and the need to take action to protect the planet for the future.
