Reset Earth

One Ozone. One Planet. One Chance

Elementary, Middle, Secondary

Description

Reset Earth is a multimedia educational resource that engages students in learning about ozone depletion and global environmental action. Centered around an animated film set in a future where the ozone layer has been severely damaged, the resource uses storytelling to explain the causes and consequences of ozone depletion, as well as the success of international cooperation through the Montreal Protocol.

Students follow three young heroes, Knox, Sagan, and Terran on a time-traveling journey to find a cure for a life-threatening disease, discovering along the way the causes and consequences of ozone depletion and the success of international cooperation through the Montreal Protocol. Supported by an interactive mobile game and classroom-ready materials, including lesson plans and inquiry-based activities, the resource encourages critical thinking, discussion, and problem-solving. By combining animation, gameplay, and informational text, Reset Earth provides flexible digital and print resources that help students understand environmental challenges and the importance of working together to protect the planet.

This educational platform includes:

  • An animated film set in a dystopian future (year 2084) where the ozone layer is destroyed
  • A mobile game that continues the adventures of Knox, Sagan and Terran through interactive challenges
  • Classroom ready materials that include lesson plans and activities that promote inquiry, discussion and critical thinking

Using the Reset Earth animation series as a starting point, three lesson plans have been developed to support student learning about the ozone layer and environmental action. An accompanying teacher toolkit is also available to help guide educators through the content, along with a corresponding student workbook.
