Pathway to Stewardship and Kinship provides outdoor activities that support healthy childhood development and community connection through building early and ongoing relationships with nature. The resource is a series of 30 'Landmark' experiences that nurture caring, connection and responsibility for the well-being of each other and the world we share. Each stage instills skills and nature-based principles that translate into overall personal and environmental well-being.
The Landmarks are designed by age group, with three to five simple, age-linked activities for each age group. Each activity builds on skills developed in earlier Landmarks. The program spans between early years to late teens. This adaptability ensures that the Landmarks can easily be integrated into any grade level. More than just activities, the Landmarks encourage theme-based learning, inspiring educators to get outdoors with their students.
The landmarks combine scientific research with the wisdom of local leaders to produce a series of outdoor experiences for students at various stages of their growth and development. These landmark activities rekindle students' connections to land and water and spark their interest in the world around them. The landmarks also provide ideas for inspiring action in a way that builds hope and empowerment.
The resource provides curriculum links, introductory videos for each landmark, booklists and support material to enhance the learning. For this review the curriculum links are for kindergarten to grade six.
