Description
Migration Headache is a highly entertaining game that simulates the spring and fall migration of many of our shorebird and waterfowl species. Students become migrating birds, travelling between their nesting habitats and wintering grounds. Along the way, participants experience first-hand many of the threats that affect shorebird populations. In addition to bringing meaning to the term migration, this activity provides real examples of limiting factors and demonstrates in concrete terms the significance of habitat destruction.
The game is supported with background information concerning shorebird & shorebird migration as well as detailed and helpful instructions to ensure successful execution and results.

This activity can be used successfully across most grade levels to support themes and outcomes related to habitat, populations and human impact on the environment. It provides a meaningful and enjoyable opportunity to take the learning outside.
