It Starts with Just One Drop

Elementary, Middle

Description

The video consists of two short animated clips that are narrated by students providing the message that individual actions can lead to major change.   The first student explains that after watching a show on water conservation he now shuts off the tap when brushing his teeth.  His brother spreads this idea through his school which leads to community, national and global action to conserve water.

In the second video, the narrator discusses how her actions to conserve water not only make her feel good but inspire others to take similar steps.  The cumulative effect of simple, individual action is major change.  It all starts with just one drop.

General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

This video would be ideal as a conversation starter with a class.  It could be used to discuss actions that the students themselves could take.  Perhaps the students could commit to their action via a pledge and update their class on their actions and the ripple effects they have had in their families and community.  The actions could be charted in the classroom with a visual display.
