General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

A great read-aloud for primary students, the story's message depicts that time goes by quickly; we should look after planet Earth and, most importantly, be kind. The storyline ends with a call for the local and global community, as images portray an endless queue of people—from family members to a range of unique characters of different cultures, circumstances and creeds—all available to answer the child's questions: "You're never alone on Earth." The messages of diversity and citizenship will help create a positive classroom community and celebrate the diversity within this community.  Teachers may include the book when teaching about world issues and different cultures.  Reading the book will also cause students to reflect on their values of diversity as they develop a deeper understanding of the term.
