Secondary

Description

This video provides information, statistics and compelling stories from both coasts of Canada to examine the rapid disappearance of fish stocks and the decimation of the oceans over the past 10-15 years. The focus on the over-exploitation of resources and poor fishery management practices provides an excellent case study of the need for sustainable development.

General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

This video would be an excellent tool to generate discussion of the importance of sustainable development, especially as it applies to marine environments .The emphasis on the role that humans have played in the decline of these ecosystems supports sustainable development outcomes in a range of high school science and geography courses.
