Climate Feelings is the second video of the Keep it Cool Classrooms educational resource that tackles different but important aspects of climate change. This video explores several emotions related to climate change, including climate grief and anxiety, and examines why students may experience these feelings. It also outlines five coping strategies that can help manage these emotions. By addressing their feelings and employing these strategies, students can cultivate a healthier relationship with their concerns about climate change and take positive action.
Students are worried about the environmental crisis that poses a threat to the future of our planet. This video would serve as a great introduction to a discussion about climate emotions, allowing students to express their feelings related to climate change and share their coping strategies. They can articulate their feelings about climate change, including both positive and negative emotions. To enhance their learning, students could also reflect on their emotions regarding climate change through journaling and creative writing activities.
Keep it Cool Classrooms is an educational resource of five videos that tackle a different yet important aspect of climate change. The resource aims to help students build climate literacy and resiliency, understand carbon emissions at a personal, community and global scale, learn coping strategies to deal with heavy climate emotions, and leave with practical tools for taking meaningful climate action.
A brief welcome video introduces students to the content and outlines what they can expect throughout the series. The resource can be completed as a class, or students can complete the lessons individually. The resource provides a student worksheet to jot down notes about the video, each video is approximately 10 minutes in length, with three questions at the end to provoke thoughtful class or small group discussion.
