Magic School Bus- Gets Swamped

This episode from the Magic School Bus series of children’s books about science, sees an eccentric teacher (Ms. Frizzle) take her class on an exciting educational field trip. With the help of a magic school bus the class explores and learns many amazing things about wetlands.

With the local town debating draining a swamp to build a shopping mall, Ms. Frizzle takes the class on a wetlands tour. This video highlights the benefits of protecting wetlands, with regards to water quality, providing habitat for various species, and reducing floods.

This video could be used in science classes to introduce the importance of habitat preservation, biodiversity and in particular, the  value of the wetlands. It could also be effective in showing connections between humans and their environment to help address outcomes in social studies.
