Description

This book effectively delivers a powerful message that despite all of the differences that people may have, we are all the same deep down.  The author explains that there are children all over the world who may look different, live in different homes and different climates, go to different schools, and speak in different tongues but all children love, smile, laugh, and cry. Their joys, pain, and blood are the same, "whoever they are, wherever they are, all over the world."

The book's illustrations portray a variety of culturally diverse images accented artistically in a variety of mediums.

The messages of diversity and citizenship will help in creating a positive classroom community and in celebrating the diversity within this community.  Teachers may choose to include the book when teaching about world issues and different cultures.  Reading the book will also cause students to reflect on their own personal values of diversity as they begin to develop a deeper understanding of the term.
