Attracting and Studying Hummingbirds

Description

The Late April & May Nature Guides draw attention to the arrival of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. This resource offers a simple set of suggestions on how students can attract and observe these marvelous little creatures.  Having the fastest metabolism of any living thing, hummingbirds are big eaters and loads of fun to watch.

Specific instructions include:

  • what kinds of flowers to plant and where
  • how to build a hummingbird feeder
  • a recipe for hummingbird nectar
