Everyday Energy

Digital Learning Kit

Elementary

Description

Through various activities, students learn about different energy sources and how much power they consume daily.  They learn how much their daily lives depend on all different sorts of energy.

 Students will:

  • describe ways in which they use energy at home and suggest ways they could help conserve energy
  • reflect upon all the activities they do throughout the day that require electricity and how life would be different without it
  • will compare the energy required to dry wet clothing using different methods
  • complete activity sheets, noting ways they use energy at home
  • draw three different ways to describe their day without electricity and how things would be different without electricity
  • using a variety of different materials, students will think of ways to dry clothing without electricity

General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

Teachers can incorporate the activities before or after a museum visit or during a science lesson plan. This resource allows the students to evaluate their habits at home and discover renewable energy resources. As an extension activity, discuss some of the ways that people use and conserve energy in the space station, the school, or in your city
