Ecological Footprints

How We Can Tread a Little Lighter on the Planet

Middle

Description

This resource examines the difference between consumption and waste. Students investigate the concept of an ecological footprint using a game format.  Afterwards they visit an interactive website that allows them to calculate their family's ecological footprint and consider different suggestions on how to reduce it.  As a culminating activity, the students complete a reflection sheet and set goals to reduce their consumption and waste.

A footprint calculator is also available from Zero footprint Youth.
