Description
In this activity, students learn why the world needs bees and how humans can effect the health of bee populations. The activity is divided into 3 sections:
Minds-on : Students share their prior knowledge about bees.
Action: With the aid of a slide show and guided questions, students explore the role of bees in the environment and how humans are impacting bee populations.
Consolidation: Students reflect on and communicate their learning about bees and how to protect them.
General Assessment
Recommendation of how and where to use it
Using the Bee Helpers lesson from Let's Talk Science can enhance student learning about pollination, ecosystems, and the importance of bees. It could be easily incorporated into units on ecosystems, biology, or environmental science.
