Pollution Solutions: Bill Nye the Science Guy

Secondary, Middle

Description

Bill uses his wacky antics, mini-clips and simulations to demonstrate how important it is for all of us to prepare for the future by developing solutions to combat the worldwide pollution problem. This entertaining and insightful video examines non-point sources of air, water and land pollution, emphasizes how human activity negatively affects ecosystems, and promotes sustainable practices. Bill encourages individual action and planet stewardship by drawing attention to the consequences of ecosystem destruction.

General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

This video could be used in geography and social studies classes as effective introduction into livable communities and to begin a discussion of how human action has affected the environment. It also supports outcomes that focus on ecosystems  and behaviors that contribute to environmental problems.  Its stewardship message could be used to prompt an 'Earth Day' discussion on the future of our planet.
