Global Warming 101

Secondary

Description

Global Warming 101 explores the global impact of climate change and how it could affect human life and the environment. A series of powerful images show how humans have burned fossil fuels which release gases in the atmosphere. These gases then cause the greenhouse effect and, therefore global warming.  Evidence for global warming includes a string of very warm years lately and that carbon dioxide and methane have hit their highest levels in 400 thousand years. These warm years have melted polar ice caps.

A series of predictions are then made for the future of our planet, like intensified storms and flooding on coastal areas. The video concludes with some ideas on how to cut our greenhouse gas emissions. This informative video would be an excellent support to classes with a link to greenhouse gas emissions or climate change.

General Assessment

Recommendation of how and where to use it

Global Warming 101 is an excellent video to help students learn the human impact and consequences of climate change for the environment and our lives. This video would be a great tool to help explain what are greenhouse gases and how they affect climate change in Science classes as well as certain Social Studies classes. This video would help with initiating discussions among students.
