Stranded in Hungary

Secondary

Description

The video shows scenes of Syrian and Afghanistan refugees stuck in a Budapest railway station who are trying to make their way to northern Europe.  While Germany and other European countries are providing sanctuary, the Hungarian government is refusing to let them board trains.  The footage will most certainly prompt discussion and encourage students to explore their own feelings and opinions concerning the plight of the refugees.

A lesson plan is available to support this video resource and guide students through some of the complexities of the Syrian refugee crisis.  In addition to providing ideas on how to use the video it offers a number of links to relevant information and activities.
